Campaign Overview

To support Google Maps’ remapping of Costa Rica, we partnered with Rainbolt, one of the world’s most recognized GeoGuessr creators, to bring audiences behind the scenes of how Street View is captured and updated. Leveraging Rainbolt’s deep credibility within mapping culture, the campaign followed him on the ground in Costa Rica as he explored the country alongside the Google Maps team.

The content was designed as a social-first series, distributed across Instagram, YouTube Shorts, and X, combining travel, education, and creator-led storytelling. A behind-the-scenes approach allowed us to demystify the Street View process while showcasing the human effort behind Google Maps – all through a format that felt accessible, entertaining, and native to each platform.

Art Direction

The art direction aimed to balance the authority of a global brand partnership with the authenticity of social content. We developed a bold, campaign-specific typographic treatment to give the series a distinct visual identity, paired with a vibrant yellow accent designed to cut through feeds and contrast against Costa Rica’s deep green landscapes.

Shot composition and editing struck a middle ground: polished enough to reflect the Google Maps brand, yet flexible and organic to maintain a creator-led, social-native feel. Atmospheric sound design was used throughout to heighten immersion and reinforce the sense of discovery that defines both Rainbolt’s content and the Google Maps experience.

Content Creation & Editing

Alongside contributing to the campaign concept and overall art direction, I was responsible for editing a selection of the social deliverables. This involved shaping footage to align with platform-specific behaviors while maintaining visual consistency across channels.

My focus was on pacing, tonal balance, and sound design, ensuring each edit felt dynamic and engaging, while still serving the narrative and intent of the campaign.

This hands-on involvement allowed me to translate the creative direction directly into execution, maintaining quality and cohesion from concept through to final output.
